First day on the Job

So I start my new job, they take me on a tour of the teen challenge facility, meet lots of nice people and get acquainted with the different departments. And I'm sitting in an office waiting for someone to finish up a phone call and I see something out of the corner of my eye on the computer monitor. It's a painting I had done that someone had downloaded as a desktop. My work on a complete strangers computer. I knew I was where I was supposed to be. I love my new job.

Well, there's a fascinating comment and a million links. I'm personally familiar with certain "Christian boot camp" groups that are quite cult-like and sinister but I haven't heard allegations like these about Teen Challenge before.

I'm not sure if this is someone fighting to protect people or someone with a serious grudge but I would like to know a bit more.

I have known two people that attended there and it worked for one and it didn't work for the other. Neither of them ever mentioned any weird problems with the place, and they both spoke positively of the God stuff and the people there. The one person just didn't like the highly structured environment and it didn't work for them.

What say, Battle?

For those of you who prefer to make up their own mind about teen challenge instead of just taking someone's word about how "awful" this program is, I suggest you put it to the test and come tour the facility before you send your loved one there.

I can't speak for all the Teen Challenges across the globe all I can do is speak about the one I work for. so in a quick reply to the articles

-teen challenge operates on 100% donor support and not a recipient of federal funds

-teen challenge is for men over the age of 18

-I've never herd of the assembly of God mentioned at teen challenge and teen challenge does not attend any cult services.

-I was not trained by the TCMI nor has it been suggested to me. And I don't know what the TCMI is.

-the critique of the schedule is silly, only half an hour to brush your teeth etc. everything sounds bad when you put ("mandatory", "abusive" and other highly "subjective" and "biased" words)

that's all I have time for right now if you have any specific questions let me know but honestly, just come on by and get a tour. See for yourself and make up your own mind.
