Fatkins

I was practicing drawing characters yesterday. It's not something I usually do but in the intrest of streaching my artistic muscles I practiced and what you see on the left was my first shot. It's kinda wierd and a little dark to be honest it kinda freaked me out a little bit that I drew that. I was curious so, I kept going. The next one I drew was a little more dark and wierd. Then I drew one so dark and wierd that it acctually scared me, a freakish jack in the box riving in pain twisted and grewsome I crumpled it up and threw it out. I know my friend Joel Terry would totally dig it but it was scary. I don't think I'll draw like that just for the heck of it anymore. I call this guy "fatkins" he's laughing at all those suckers who diet and excersize.

Lil' Darling

Yesterday I was drawing letters at work. First sketching them out in pencil then going back over with pen. That night I was cleaning up and I found a paper with one of the kids names drawn in block letters, arrows and then outlined in pen. The lil' darling was emulating me. And although he tends to be a bit stand-off-ish I saw the piece and I thought "Wow, I might be getting through to this kid, maybe he doesn't hate me as much as he pretends to".

Graffiti Mission Statement

I want to provoke the intellectuals, convert the pedestrian, soften the heart of the bitter, encourage the believer. I want the worship of God not to be confined to inside the church. I want to fling wide the doors and let His praise fill the streets. I want tear down the walls the enemy has claimed and take back the land God has given me. I want to redeem an art form that has been used for pride and instead walk humbly with God. My art should strive be an understandable representation of these ideals and should accurately translate messages and themes within the bible to the community while serving the viewing audience and the owner of the property.

Battleground Records (part 3)

Local Christian Rapper and record label owner Just Issac had a huge article in the Toronto Sun on Sunday. Yesterday he asked me about how the article potrayed him and we had a good talk. He really appriciated the logo I did for him and asked me to do a banner for him (which isn't started yet). He wanted to do me a favor in return for the logo and he says he's got a surprise in mind but he asked if I'd rather take some money. I told him I'd take what's behind the mystery door...

Blog Mission Statement

I love telling stories about my life and in peticular the part of my life that has to do with spraypaint. Because, I think back to stories that I've herd about other peoples lives and the various lessons I've learned from them and I would like to pass on the favor. The purpose of this blog isn't to talk about a specific type of ministry such as spraypaint because, really? How many people spraypaint? But all of us are on this road of life with God "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." (prov 19:21) God has a specific plan for your life, specific ministries and specific character traits he wants develop within you. And I'm trying to record an accurate testiment of how God has worked in my life using the art form of graffiti. I have made mistakes and I probibly will make some more mistakes while writing this account and ask that you forgive me when I do and if you feel inclined to, let me know when I've made a mistake.

The "S"

I painted a really nice "s" in my basement that no one will see. I just kept fixing little mistakes and cutting and making it look just right. I was being patient taking breaks and then coming back to it day after day. It was so good that I didn't want to paint over it again. I went back to open door a couple of days ago and re-touched the lettering I did a while back. It was cold but I just couldn't sit home and paint over the same wall again. I have been getting a lot better recently and I wasn't affraid that I'd mess up my previous work. So I gave it a shot and it looks better. I think back to that night and I realize I made something a little more permanent than what I've done in my basement and I want that feeling again. So last night at 1:00 in the morning I packed up my spraypaint and I drove to Brantford. I worked through the cold, raining night and I drew a piece of cherry pie and "Jesus" on one of the skateboard ramps. The wood was hard to work on so I had to do a few base coats first before I started painting and by the time I got to the final out line of "Jesus" I was wet and tired I went fast not taking my time and it made it look a little sloppy. If I had a little more patience to finish it off right it would have looked a little better. I got home at 6:00am and it was great.
